Delete your account
You can ask us to close your KontoLink account and delete the data belonging to it at any time. This page explains exactly what happens.
How to request it
If you can still sign in, the quickest way is to write to us from the address the account uses — we can confirm it is you straight away.
If you cannot sign in, use the form on this page. We confirm the request with you before anything is deleted, so that nobody else can close your account.
We act on the request within 30 days, and normally within a few working days.
What is deleted
- Your account: name, e-mail address, password, language and notification settings.
- Your company profile and the key your accountant used to link to you.
- The documents you uploaded, together with their notes, categories and dates.
- Device registrations used to send push notifications to your phone.
- The audit record of actions taken in your account.
What has to be kept, and for how long
Two things cannot be deleted on request, because the law requires them to exist:
- Invoicing and payment records. These are accounting documents and are kept for the statutory retention period. They contain the company name, the amount and the date — not your documents.
- Documents you have already sent to an accounting office. Those are in that office's hands as part of your accounting relationship, and their own retention obligations apply to them. Deleting your KontoLink account does not withdraw a document your accountant has already received and filed.
Beyond that, data can survive for a short while inside encrypted backups that were taken before the deletion. Those rotate out on their own schedule and are not used for anything else in the meantime.
